While cemeteries No. 1 and No. 2 are included on the National Register of Historic Places and the Louisiana African American Heritage Trail, the St. Louis Cemetery No. 1 is the oldest and most famous. It was opened in 1789 and has remained in use since. Most of the graves are above-ground vaults constructed in the 18th and 19th centuries. Renowned Voodoo priestess Marie Laveau is believed to be interred in the Glapion family crypt. In 2010, actor Nicolas Cage purchased a pyramid-shaped tomb to be his future final resting place. With so much history here, what else remains or has made a home? Malia Miglino, being the Grave Hunter she is, has always wanted to visit this historical site. Almost anywhere you go in Gettysburg you will come across a place that is supposedly haunted. It is very easy to understand why. Tens of thousands of men lost their lives here in this small Pennsylvania town in July of 1863.
